Walled City lahore Authority

Tours & Events

While the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) is widely acclaimed for its unwavering dedication to the conservation, planning, preservation, and restoration of architectural treasures within Old Lahore, its objectives reach far beyond the mere physical structures. More than just architectural rejuvenation, these efforts symbolise a cultural revival, infusing ancient traditions of Old Lahore with renewed vigour. Through various events and tourism initiatives, WCLA strives to rekindle the fading arts, highlight the quintessence of a lost epoch, and spotlight the rich, enduring culture nestled within Lahore’s historic ramparts.

These events and guided tours are meticulously crafted to forge a connection between these historic edifices and spaces and the public. Spearheading this transformative journey is the Director General of WCLA, Mr. Kamran Lashari, whose forward-thinking leadership facilitated the incorporation of Marketing and Tourism at the core of WCLA’s structure. Presently, WCLA is globally recognised for its carefully orchestrated events and guided tours, attracting aficionados and adventurers from Pakistan and around the world, eager to delve into the living history and cultural treasures that embellish the venerable walled city of Lahore.

Describing the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) as the pioneer of Street Tourism in Pakistan is no exaggeration. Since launching the Royal Trail guided tours in 2012, a unique and immersive urban exploration experience was introduced for the first time in Pakistan. Previously, tourism was mostly confined to monumental sites and Lahore Fort. WCLA, however, ingeniously designed these bespoke tours, inviting visitors to venture into the city’s maze-like, bustling streets. These tours are animated by local young men and women, who receive meticulous training to serve as tour guides. They lead tourists on a magical journey through the winding alleys and historic neighbourhoods of the Royal Trail. Along the way, visitors discover Lahore’s hidden treasures: the charming Sabeel Wali Gali, the ancient Shahi Hammam, the narrative-rich lanes of Gali Surjan Singh, the architectural marvels of Haveli Mian Sultan and Haveli Dina Nath, the historic Well of Dina Nath, the revered Masjid Wazir Khan, and the lively Chowk Wazir Khan. This adventure offers more than just a tour of streets and monuments; it’s a cultural voyage. Tourists enjoy delightful samples of local cuisine – from tangy Marabba and Achaar to rich dried fruits and hearty Haleem. Guests become active explorers, stepping inside local havelis, engaging with residents, and enhancing their experience with the colourful Rangeela Rickshaw ride.
